MattMartelliThe Martelli Brothers are changing the way we look at all media especially media created in the world of motor sports. The Brothers expanded that power when they purchased the Mint 400 off-road race more than three years ago helping to move the race into the event status in Las Vegas, the event city.

Tech House & Speed spent nearly an hour Thursday morning talking with Matt Martelli, Mad Media CEO, about the growth of off-road racing, his passion for rallying and his love of travel. It’s amazing to see how Matt and his brother Joshua have mashed all that into a stunningly successful business.

As creatives, The Martelli Brothers have launched enormous brands. They might be best known for being there to launch Ken Block’s Gymkhana Viral Video series winning some of the highest awards in advertising and media in the process. Maybe the largest award is the hundreds of millions of views created for the Gymkhana series and other projects they’ve done all over the world.

We learned from Matt that his success as a creative can be traced back to his youth in Kalamazoo, Michigan where Matt, Josh and their younger sister grew up in the 1970s learning about design, culture and people. They’ve spent their lives building on that foundation. Mad Media is based in Southern California now but it was their Midwestern multi-cultural roots that separated them for success.

From the Mad Media website: “Mad Media is a San Diego based marketing and creative agency, with in-house film and television production. We craft authentic, culturally engaging brand messages, and deliver them across print, web, photography, and film platforms. Mad Media has been leading the online content revolution since 1995 producing major commercial, television, online content and viral film projects such as The Gymkhana Series and XP1K Series.”

Here’s a chance to learn how a creative mind created a new business down a road less traveled. Here’s Matt Martelli.
