LA PAZ RACING WINS AGAIN AT THE BEST IN THE DESERT “VEGAS TO RENO” OFF-ROAD RACE!

The longest Off-Road race in the United States put team La Paz through its paces on an
unforgettable 535-mile journey through the Nevada desert.

Slower classes and 4wheel drive Rock Crawler buggies played a major role in the over-all pace of Tim Casey and the La Paz Racing crew as the 8108 La Paz Racing truck had to work their way around dozens of slower class vehicles. With the Nevada silt and hanging dust being the biggest hindrance, Casey and crew had to press harder than ever to gain track position. Knowing that he wanted to improve his over-all time, Tim Casey came to the BITD-Vegas To Reno with a subconscious goal of proving to the powers that be that the Stock Full class and the 8108 La Paz Racing truck truly are faster than some of the limited classes that start in front of them.

After picking his way past most of the limited classes ahead of him, Tim Casey would soon find himself victim to a fuel pressure issue; dead center of the race course. Casey was able to get a fellow competitor to pull the La Paz Racing Stock Full off of the course just far enough that Casey and co-rider Bill Rante could address the issue. After spending 45 minutes addressing the fuel issue, Casey and Rante were back on course and charging forward so that Casey could hand the La Paz truck off to co-driver; Mike Tuba at Pit 8 (Coaldale). While Tuba and co-rider Phil Nugent took the La Paz Racing 8108 for a 90-mile jaunt, Casey and Rante were able to stretch their legs and replenish their fluids just in time for another go at “The Longest Race In America.”

At Pit 11, Casey and Rante strapped themselves back into the 8108 La Paz Racing Ford F-250 in order to continue to tackle the remaining 200 miles to the finish line.

“This course was a challenge, it really put our equipment to the test. We use the best products in the business for a reason; and that is so we finish and win races,” Tim Casey commented. Casey went on to say, “we hit a pond sized pool of water that had been sitting from the rain. A title wave of brown water just kept rushing over the hood and into the truck, completely soaking both of us with every inch we gained. I thought we were dead in the water (literally) but we kept pushing through and kept believing in our equipment.” Casey and Rante would make it through what looked to be the end of their race, and continued to charge towards Dayton, Nevada where the race would come to a rest.

As far as the classes that started in front of the Stock full class, by race mile 70, Casey and Rante had driven through the dust and physically passed all of class 6000 (Trophy Lights) which had started right in front of them. At the end of the race, they had passed all of the entries in classes 2000, 3000 & 19 of the 21 4×4 rock crawlers that started in class 4400.

The La Paz Racing Stock Full #8108 would cross the finish line first in class, making the BITD Vegas To Reno their 13th win in the past 2 ½ years and would be one step closer in securing the points championship for the third consecutive year in class 8100!

La Paz Racing would like to thank their valued sponsors for their continued support in 2012.
