Mad Media Spends 24 Hours in Daytona!

24 Hours of Daytona is the most unique, challenging, and prestigious race in America. It is a twenty-four hour non-stop marathon, run on a three and a half mile track that is one part NASCAR banked oval, and one part road course. It requires a team of as many as six highly skilled drivers to complete the circuit over 750 times, at speeds up to 200 miles per hour, traveling twenty-seven hundred miles! Teams must pass thousands of competitor cars, all without error or mechanical failure, in order to reach the podium. Continental Tire tapped Mad Media to document the historic 2012 race, which marked the 50th anniversary.

The Mad Media production team, led by auteurs, Matt and Josh Martelli (The Martelli Brothers), spent a week in the pits, drivers meetings, practices sessions, and on the track itself capturing all twenty-four hours of the race action and mayhem that ensued. They employed a variety of camera systems never before used in road racing – including a Red Epic outfit with a prototype 75-400mm T2.8 – T3.8 Fujifilm zoom lens.  This summer, Mad Media and Continental Tire will release a very special one-hour blockbuster documentary that showcases the intense racing action from this year’s event, and includes interviews by the athletes, celebrities, and team owners who competed. This unprecedented look into the intense world of Grand-Am road racing will be distributed globally, and will be available for digital download.
