Warfighter Made: Recreational Therapy Through Off-Road

We have had a busy year, traveled all over the world, experienced strange and wonderful cultures, met a lot of new people, and made many new friends. But the one experience that surprised us was a trip we did with the Warfighter crew to Mammoth Lakes, CA. When you meet someone who has had their leg and arm blown off and has a better attitude than you about life, it’s time to take a look at your own. Not just your life, but the world. It’s messed up. It seems that the strife in the world has escalated which is exactly why we still need soldiers.

Whether you agree with the current policies or not is not the point. These are our brothers and sister sacrificing their well being and inevitably their lives to make sure America can stay free. One lesson I think we learned from Vietnam was not to demonize the soldiers, rather if you disagree with the policy, attack the policy makers.

Spending time with these guys made us realize how valuable life is, all of it. Especially friendship. The War fighter guys have this saying “It’s not what you lost, it’s what you have left.” When a guy missing his leg looks at you and say that it makes your realize your problems are petty bullshit.

What the War Fighter Made organization has done is remarkable. One by one they are helping soldiers rehab via recreational therapy. There is no administration or layers of bureaucracy, just a few good soldiers helping other soldiers. You want to support veterans and feel good about being an American? Donate to these guys because 100% of it will go to helping other solders.
