La Paz Racing Wins Best in the Desert Season Opener in Parker!

La Paz Racing took on 436 of the most grueling miles that the Parker, Arizona desert has to offer. The La Paz team spent the off-season (December-January) focusing their efforts on building an entirely new motor for the #8108 La Paz Racing Ford F-250. They were looking to gain the competitive advantage that is necessary in order to continue to run at the top of their class. The La Paz Racing crew received the new V-10 engine just days prior to the race. With time running out, the team was forced burn the midnight oil to complete the install and to insure no details were missed. The team would be shooting for a fourth-consecutive victory at this historic race.

La Paz Racing owner and driver Tim Casey took the wheel of his La Paz Cocktail Mix Ford F-250 with Bill Rante strapping into the passenger seat as usual. Staged on the streets of Parker Arizona, Casey and Rante would leave the starting line shortly before 9:00 AM and would be racing along side a record number of entries that turned out for this season opening event.

Casey knew it was going to be a long tough race and went on to say, “we weren’t sure what we were going to do this season, but Parker is just an iconic race and really challenges not only the driver but the entire team.” Casey continued to state, “we have an excellent team and know that if we keep our Ford from running into too many immovable objects, all of the other pieces will fit right into place.”

Starting in the second position for their class, once off the starting line, Casey and Rante knew they would have some hungry competitors breathing down their backs. They knew they wanted to take advantage of clean air and needed to get around the truck that started in front of them as soon as possible. Casey did just that in the first ten minutes of the race passing for the lead position at Race Mile 8.

From that point and on, Casey and Rante kept the pedal to the floor and took on the treacherous task for two more laps where they raced the remaining 290 miles without issue. Casey believes the trouble free run was due in part to the development the La Paz Racing team has put in with the DEAVER leaf spring package along with the LUCAS suspension oil the team has been testing in their KING racing shocks for the past year. Some of the key ingredients required to out-perform the rest.

With the KC HiLites HID driving lights blazing the way, the La Paz Racing Ford F-250 crossed the finish line in the first place, with an elapsed time of 10:28. Their race day had been perfect in all aspects from the drop of the green flag to the 41-mile per hour average they were able to obtain. The BFGoodrich Tires were flawless, no flats, not one issue with mechanical failure and not one issue with the new bullet under the hood. As Tim Casey celebrated at the finish line he went on to say “…and that’s why we race a Ford.”
